LAHORE: Experts have warned that the new counter-terrorism policy devised by National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) may only succeed if it is implemented properly.
Through National Counter Extremism Policy (NCEP), NACTA aims to eliminate extremism in the country by introducing social and educational reforms aimed at the youth.
This policy takes a direct hit at the questions that were raised about the role of some academic institutions in facilitating extremism. NACTA aims to promote positive elements such as peace, harmony and co-existence in the country by attacking ignorance, the root of extremism.
“NCEP is a set of programs in the six fields with an objective to build strong bond between state and citizenry, empowerment and inclusion of youth and marginalized elements, reforming educational streams including religious education and instilling an environment of openness and co-existence,” NACTA chief officer, Ihsan Ghani said.
