WASHINGTON: The United States (US) has on Friday reiterated its demand that Pakistan must prosecute Hafiz Saeed, the head of Jamat ud-Daawa, who is accused of having masterminded the Mumbai attacks in November 2008.
During the press briefing, spokesperson for US State Department Heather Nauert told that Pakistan had been sent a message that Hafiz Saeed must be ‘prosecuted to the fullest extent of law’.
The US also demands Hafiz Saeed’s Lashkar-e-Taiba to be designated a terrorist outfit internationally. However, Pakistan had acted against the group back in 2002 by banning it.
However, Nauert rejected the reports that intelligence sharing between Pakistan and the US had stopped after the security aid cut by the latter.
