Punjab Police Inspector General Shoaib Dastgir has said that modern professional training and improving efficiency of force is the top priority of the department, and in this regard bilateral coordination with police forces and law enforcement agencies of other countries will be enhanced.
He was talking to a two-member delegation of the British High Commission – consisting of Consular Regional Operation Manager Ann Cowan and Consular Operations Head Albert David – at the Central Police Office on Monday
Talking to the delegates, IG Shoaib Dastgir further said that the police were ensuring supremacy of law not only by smart and community policing parameters, but also through modern integrated khidmat marakiz that have been established after separating projects of service delivery from general policing, and the citizens are being provided quick facilities.
He further said that the Special Protection Unit (SPU) was performing their duties for protection and safety of all foreigners, experts and investors whereas the counter terrorism force of the Punjab Police was also engaged in intelligence based operations to eliminate terrorists.
Issues of mutual interest were also discussed during the meeting. Addl IG operations Punjab Inam Ghani was also present in the meeting. The British delegation acknowledged the performance of Punjab Police against terrorism and said that timely action of Punjab Police against terrorists and anti-social elements was plausible, whereas the projects of Punjab Police for public service were rightly up to the mark of modern policing. It was further decided to augment professional cooperation and information sharing with Punjab Police in the future. In the end, IG Shoaib Dastgir presented memorial souvenir to Ann Cowan.
